Abstract

The Journal of the Geological Society of India (JGSI) is an Indian journal, which deals with all aspects of Earth systems sciences. Reportsbibliometrics analysis of the publications published in Journalof Geological Society of India between 2002 and 2021. ScopusDatabase search results retrieved 3445 publications from the journal. The analysis of the publications covers various aspects of bibliometrics; year-wise distributions of publications, citations and citations per publications, JGSI’s most prolific authors, authorship pattern and degree of collaboration, top countries with total publications, and most cited articles of JGSI. It also reveals the JGSI’s author affiliations with total publications and total citations. Further, the study has illustrated science mapping analysis using visualization tool - VoS viewer. The keywords used to derive the required data are co-authorship network of JGSI’s authors, Co-authorship network of JGSI’s authors’ affiliated institutions, co-occurrence view of author specified keywords, which helps to detect the required topics. The results of the study would certainly help scholars of earth systems sciencesto understand the development of the related subjects.
